If you are like me, when someone sends you a Facebook game request, you lose that special Facebook trust, and relegate them to the unfriendly zone. So, I’m not inviting you. I’m merely reviewing. I had never played a Facebook game, and never thought I would, until Jacquie’s uncle Jonathan got me hooked on MyVegas. We read an interesting Facebook post where Jon wrote that he received a half priced buffet at the Bellagio, and half priced tickets for two to see Cirque du Soleil’s “O”… For FREE. Hearing ‘free’ makes my ears perk up. Globetrotters love freebies. Like a magician, I needed to know his method. While deals abound in Vegas, I was surprised to find that he earned these deals and the ability to choose many others before travelling by playing a simple Facebook game. I was very skeptical at first, and I bet you are too. Let me tell you a little bit more about this.
What is MyVegas
First off, it’s free.
In short, MyVegas is a Facebook and mobile game where you can play an assortment of free slot machines. You play with tokens given and earned to earn more tokens for more plays (red) and loyalty coins for rewards (gold). The gold coins can be exchanged for various Las Vegas rewards, like:
TL;DR: Free Facebook game for earning free rewards in Las Vegas
You actually get something for playing. The best part is that this game doesn’t require much involvement and zero real money. What kind of games are there? Well, it is mostly comprised of slot machine styled play, while also giving you the option to play Blackjack. As you play, your experience level earns you new slot games. You can set your wager amount as well as an ‘auto-spin’ function so that the game plays without touching anything so that you can earn loyalty points while doing something else entirely. This is what I like the most, that this game can be played passively and free. Here are some of the rewards I saw while writing this post. Keep in mind that these point amounts will change from the time this post is written.
Remember: The only part to think about are the Gold Loyalty Coins. Not the red ones. They are the permission to play, whereas the gold coins earn you benefits.
What has kept me away from very popular Facebook or mobile games is the constant involvement, and annoyance of pay-to-play. If I’m playing a game, I don’t want to have to continually pay for it. We find MyVegas to be relatively low involvement and free. Keep in mind, you can pay for additional features, but we find these to be unnecessary. Also, being constantly invited to play Facebook games is a layer of hell I believe Dante wrote of in the Inferno. Joking aside, this game will attempt to provoke you to invite your friends. Being aware of this, you can always decline and ensure that this app does not post to your Facebook wall. I haven’t had a hard time with this, and I doubt you will either.
You do not need to pay for anything to earn loyalty points.
Jacquie and I have been filling our couch time lately with a fun Facebook game where we are actually watching a movie, TV show, or reading while this game passively earns bonuses for us in the background.
Our goal isn’t too necessarily have our whole trip covered by these deals, hotels and all. That would take forever, and really isn’t the best bargain for our points. With the packaged vacation deals from sites like Cheapoair, we could fly and stay for very cheap. We think that we could earn enough points over six months, playing for less than 30 minutes a day a few days a week that we could eat for free our entire 4 day trip. This would be an incredible savings of over $400 USA, easily.
This being an introduction, we will have follow-up posts describing our strategies, as well as the reviews of when we finally cash in those hard earned loyalty points!
If you start playing MyVegas, let us know on our Facebook Page! We’d love to hear from you!
